Edinburgh Car Hire :
Edinburgh is a congested city so car travel in central Edinburgh is NOT a good idea. There are several large multi-storey car parks but it is often a nightmare to find parking. Throughout the city there are measures in place to reduce congestion but it remains an ongoing problem with some areas being rather complicated to negotiate. Green painted lanes should be left clear during rush hours as these are call "greenways" and are used by the cities buses. There are extensive areas that are resident only parking areas with double yellow, no go areas and single yellow lines found elsewhere. There are many parking-meter-controlled areas but please be aware that Edinburgh is heavily patrolled by parking inspectors who issue fines day and night and in severe cases they may have your car impounded.
Care hire may be useful if you plan to travel to some of the attractions on the outskirts of Edinburgh and the Lothians. It is always advisable to make contact with the car hire company at your earliest convenience.
